About

This is one of the most acknowledged festival in Scandinavia and is the largest film festival in Northern Europe. The most important meeting point for the Swedish and Scandinavian film industries and for TV-buyers and film critics of all media. Diverse interesting thematic focuses with the accompanying program (round-table discussions, lectures and workshops). Professional organized festival with good supervision of guests and professionals and a familiar atmosphere. A good place to scout for brand new Scandinavian films among a large number of world premieres.

Program

  • Nordic Competition – open for feature films from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
  • Nordic Documentary Competition – open for documentaries from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
  • The Ingmar Bergman Competition – open for feature films by first and second time directors from all around the world.

Awards

  • Dragon Award Best Nordic Film – open for feature films from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark. 
  • Dragon Award Best Nordic Documentary – open for documentaries from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
  • The Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award — open for feature films by first and second time directors from all around the world.

Rules

  • Feature films available on 35mm or DCP, The length must be 50 minutes minimum. 
  • Documentaries available on 35mm or DCP. The length must be 50 minutes minimum. 
  • All applications must be made through our website.
  • To be considered for the festival 2024 the submitted film must have had its first public screening after January 1, 2022.
  • Projects should be premieres in Sweden.
  • the only way to submit a film to Göteborg Film Festival 2024 is to complete the online submission form, pay the entry fee with a credit card and send a DVD or a link to an online screener of your film to us. The entry fee is non-refundable.
