Directors Statement

For a long time I associated VR only with rooms for VR-games in malls, where people in VR headsets swing their arms in a ridiculous manner fighting zombie armies. In spring 2020, I read how VR technology helped Korean woman meet with her 6 years old daughter who died from illness. It was so touching and beautiful. I felt that the future is already here. So the idea of the film came - the VR-club where you can recreate most of the important moments of the past, talk to dead loved ones, assuage the pain, forgive or be forgiven. There were many questions: whether the idea is realistic in case of the modern technological development? How this could be technically implemented? Will it help people or make things worse? Whether this service would be required or it can cause dependence? Would the government somehow regulate such activities? How much would it cost? Answering these questions, we created a story and looked for a visual concept. It was important to avoid futuristic, fantasticalness, keep everything as close as possible to our present-day reality. That’s how sleeping quarter and the heroes of the film appeared. There’s a VR-club in an obscure basement. This combination of everyday life and technology at the same time is comical and faithfully reflects our time.
